Kung Fu Panda 2 doubles its awesomeness :)

He is stupid but lovable and confused but brave! Our cuddly, big-belly super hero Panda is back with a bang to double the awesomeness. He is now living an improved life being the Dragon Warrior, shielding the Valley of Peace with the Furious Five - Tigress (voiced by Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Crane (David Cross), Viper (Lucy Lu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan). Things are all okay, but when they stumble upon a deadlier enemy who has a worst intention, the adventure gets a new edge. There’s more than just courage that Po needs to counter the trouble. The flick scores for its humour, action, animation, direction and voice casting. A complete family entertainer, we would say!

Hang Hangover 2 :(

The original Hangover didn’t do any harm; it was healthy for it laughed our blues away. But the latest Hangover is really a bad hangover because of its unoriginality, senseless humours and unattractive plot. This one is just a plain extension of its original make without any catchy elements. To put it simple, Hangover 2 is a failed attempt to recreate its old charm.

Something Borrowed is worth a passe :(

Love, relationship, one night stand and sacrifice many times become part of a progressive dilemma that never ceases to hold back. Something Borrowed is a clever take around this, but the way the flick has been handled it ends up becoming a mere emotion-ridden drama of confused characters rather being a touchy tale based on a sensible topic.

Pirates of the Caribbean:On-Stranger Tides relives the adventure double time :)

Jack Sparrow, our loveable but ship less captain is back with a bang! And this time, this cunning and strange pirate is here to multiply the adventure. The fresh target is the elusive fountain of youth but the path that leads to it is spiky. Add to this, his co-passengers are tricky. What waits next is a series of both welcoming and unwelcoming events for Jack. The film has been handled thoughtfully and it is certainly another well done make of ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ franchise. There are no dull moments and watching it is fun!

Pyaar Ka Punchnama has a message 4 males :)

More recently, there is a change in the wind in Bollywood. Instead of showing the dead-beat ‘Wow, how beautiful love is’, the new-age directors are calculatedly giving the theme an unlikely touch i.e., ‘Of course, love is beautiful, but it can turn things ugly too’. We saw that in ‘Luv ka The End’ – the feel-bad teenage battle where female protagonist stoops to do legal as well as illegal stuffs to bring her bad love down. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama, love again has been treated in a new light. The difference is this time the blames go to the females. The male movie goers connect to the theme that the fair gender is justly from Venus, which is no doubt the most unjustifiable and sham planet in the solar system for them.

404 will really psych your mind :)

Is the world real? Is everything around us actually happening? Does what we see truly exist? Most importantly, are we actually what we are? The questions open up a whole new world of psychology – the complexly interesting study of science, mind and behaviour. While most of the people let it pass by their mind because they just don’t understand it, some however walk the extra miles to find out its intricacies. Some even cash in on it successfully, like our contemporary Bollywood directors. Karthik Calling Karthik was an awesome example of how grippingly a psychological thriller could be made. The man who unknowingly started calling himself wowed the audience with his brilliant performance and a solid script. And now, we have 404, a fresh psycho take which thoughtfully combines horror, mystery, science and psychology into a soulful curry. The film scores for its title treatment, performance and story.

Ragini MMS is spooky :-)

Ragini MMS is a sexcapade gone wrong! First, picture this scenario: A bleak bungalow, a naughty young couple, hidden cameras and a mischievous third person. If you think it’s enough to breach one’s privacy, the director thinks it is just the beginning of an absorbing paranormal thriller. And he puts it on screen quite well. The film has a Hollywood inspiration, but it definitely has its own tone, a desi tadka which a typical Bollywood movie goer wouldn’t mind to love.

Stanley Ka Dabba is cute! :-)

Stanley Ka Dabba is a cute film based on a plain theme. The story is simple, the direction is brilliant and the performance is bright. It is made for kids, but given the film’s message and treatment, it will appeal people of all age groups. Watch it for everything it is!

Love U...Mr. Kalakaar isn't that artistic :(

Love U... Mr. Kalakaar is quite like those bygone Bollywood films in which the cycle never fails to move in a formulaic direction: "Heroine loves hero, but her father doesn’t. He asks the hero to prove his worth to marry his daughter. Hero then embarks on an ‘l’ll prove me’ journey, but obstacles await him on the path". Having such a worn-out and routine script, the film fails to retain any interest, despite an able direction and good acting.

Haunted is a spooky failure :(

Old-school story, depressing acting and a blunt writing haunt Haunted. In a recent interview with the media persons when Vikram Bhatt was asked why he prefers spirits over the living, he says "I feel safer with spirits because you know that they will scare you but with people you just have no clue," His newest ‘Haunted’ does the job right. The spirits scared us little than the actors. To go by the facts, it is India's first stereoscopic 3D film, but the real third dimension the film has brought is that it is irritating, besides being boring and messy. The actors give a wholesome combo of babyish performance, while the plot lacks its tone. Nothing in it stands equal to Vikram’s rather ‘okay’ eerie treats like Raaz and 1920.

Water For Elephants entertains, not hugely though :)

Water For Elephants is a romantic melodrama that revolves around the complex emotions and edgy human relationships. The film has a thoughtful theme and it has been handled well, if not very well. Watch it, but don’t expect it to be hugely entertaining.

Beastly lacks many best things :(

Beastly pitches on a noble theme, a theme which is universally recognized but overworked more than many times. It tells outer beauty is less significant if compared with inner beauty and that real beauty lies within, not anywhere outside. But the way the film tries to project the fact; it becomes a boring treat rather than a quality flick.

Shor in the City is noisy, but audible :)

Shor in the City has an unconventional plot, a zany screenplay, a subtle touch of humour and above all, three loveable idiots who keep you absorbed throughout the film’s runtime. Mumbai has been so much caringly described here that even an insider could find it new, life has been reflected in such a thoughtful manner that very few new age Bollywood movies had reflected before. Having said that, Shor in the City is a must-watch for everyone looking for an indisputably good quality film.

I AM is a noble art movie with no treat :(

I AM joins four stories together, which are completely unrelated but share one common theme – the hunt for individual identity. Set in parts, the stories tell us the seemingly complex lives of four characters who have their own problems and want to seek out a solution at the earliest. Noble attempts have been made by the director to give it an honest edge, but the film proves out to be a creme only for those who don’t take art films lightly. For the rest, there’s nothing remarkable in the plate.

Thor lacks the real thunder :(

The story revolves round the actions of the mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose nonstop doings reignite an ancient war. Thor is entertaining, but it is only a one-time watch with nothing remarkable in its plot and storytelling. Lack of emotion, average acting and poor screenplay overpowers its fine concept and clever visual effects. The superhero tries to make a bang but to no avail.

Limitless is not a complete passé :)

A writer suffers from chronic writer's block. To get out of the situation, he consumes an experimental pill that lets him use 100% of his brain. But the pills are filled with troubles waiting to knock the writer down. 'Limitless' has a great story to tell, an engaging idea to develop and a talented actor to showcase. But the film fails to keep its appeal clicking, especially in the second half when it becomes somewhat a complex tale of confusions. Still the flick is worth a watch for everything it is.

Chalo Dilli is a is a good entertainer :)

Chalo Dilli is a lively story with a touchy end. It has in it two different protagonists from two completely different social verticals who club together by chance and then embark on a memorable journey wandering around both urban and rural areas that collectively constitute India.
